The elder

Poisonous plants/plants that prick

Plants cannot run away when they come under attack from for example insects, birds or people.

They use other means to avoid being eaten.

A whole plant or parts of the plant may be poisonous, or it may grow thorns as a means of defence.

The elder comes into flower in the month of June. It is a poisonous bush, with the exception of the flowers and the berries.

This is lucky for those who enjoy the juice of the elder.
