Halkevad Memorial Park

Halkevad Memorial Park

In 1881 miller Johannes Krogh Rasmussen ceded a parcel of land near the Lindes Å for the purposes of communal meetings and memorials. It was here that the citizens of the district could meet as part of the constitutional assembly.

A hundred men and untold horses were involved in raising a memorial in honour of Frederik VII and the Constitution. It is said that only half of the stone memorial is above ground.

Since then, several memorials were erected in the park, which was used for public meetings during the Occupation.
