Antvorskov Barracks

Antvorskov Barracks are fairly modern. They were built in the early 1970s to compensate for lack of space at Slagelse Barracks.

When the barracks opened, soldiers were part of the Lifeguard Regiment which was founded in 1614 and took part in many battles, including Dybbøl in 1864.

Today the regiment is the Hussars of the Household Troops and is especially renowned for its squadron of cavalry. They are typically to be seen escorting the Royal Carriage.

They are also a weekly sight in Slagelse town.
