The bat

The bat goes into hibernation as early as October, seeking out hollow trees or old buildings.
However, they do not sleep solidly the entire winter long.
If the temperature is above freezing their body temperature will be the same.
When there is a frost, the bat can increase its metabolism, using very little energy to keep warm during this period.
