The sloe bush

Poisonous plants/plants that prick

Dissemination of sloes is performed by birds who eat the berries.

The plant is not keen for larger animals like roe deer and hares to feast on its bark and new shoots.

So its branches have developed long pointed thorns which birds are able to sit on but which repel larger animals.
